    Selling a property after settlement

Due to ongoing legal costs I will be forced to sell the property I have bought once settlement has been concluded. Can one sell a property straight away? What sort of costs are involved? Are there extra costs involved in selling so soon after settlement? Any advice or thoughts would be much appreciated.

    Hi Mason,

You should talk to your lawyer about negotiating a way out of the deal - who knows, maybe the vendor regrets selling, and would like another chance to get a higher offer.

Alternatively, if you are in Victoria, you may be able to onsell the property before settlement for no more than what you paid for it and avoid stamp duty.

If you sell after settlement you will probably be up for stamp duty plus the normal costs of selling.
